Road trip to northern villages
Alone in Windhoek
To be able to go to all nine schools in one week instead of three we had to split up. So on Wedsneday 3:30 AM, Joel and I left Oskar alone in Windhoek and began an adventurous 900 km long journey to the north of Namibia. Susan of Star for Life drove ahead of us, […]
Finally up to speed
Since the last blogpost three days ago until today I have been alone in Windhoek. During this time I have been traveling around with Foreversun which is a Star For Life employe. We’ve visited three schools, two in Windhoek and one in Rehoboth. These were the last three schools (except for the two in the […]
A glimpse of sanity
We are finally focusing on visiting schools. This morning we met at NeTSS and then split up to be able to go to as many schools as possible. Joel stayed and installed the last computers, Patricia went to two schools in Windhoek and I went to one school in Windhoek. It is amazing to finally […]
Never knowing what will happen until it happens
After spending most of last week sitting in a cold computer lab reinstalling all computers we where exhausted. Having done the same installation time and time again using a very hacky .bat script had also made us question what we where doing here and perhaps our very existence. Fortunately for us we had the weekend […]
Got an OK from the ministry!
Hi! We told you that we finally might go to schools today, but unfortunately events unfolded differently. So instead we offer you a picture of Joel :) The good news: 100 computers are now done and ready! So, the story will be continued on Monday. During the weekend we will visit Swakopmund by the sea, and […]
Experts at waiting
Hello! Finally we have some good news to tell you – we have gotten a go ahead from the ministry! We had the final meetings with the ministry in the beginning of the week, where it was decided that we can take the computers to the schools if they have the […]
Waiting for the computers
It’s been some days since our last blogpost, but don’t worry, we’re still alive. Unfortunatily we haven’t received the computers yet. We’ve been waiting each day for the Ministry of Education to call and either say we’ll get the computers or invite us to a meeting, but neither have happened yet. Since we haven’t had […]
We have arrived!
Our first day began with being picked up by a sweet Life Skills Couch from Star for Life called Anneli. We were brought to the office to meet the rest and plan the start of our mission. (In Namibia the schools have a subject called life skills – cooool.) The city of Windhoek is quite […]
The computers have been sent!!
We met up at the Landvetter airport in Gothenburg where we headed for our first flight. This was to be the first in a series of three flights for a total of 25 hours. All flights went well even though long. As we approached the Windhoek airport we looked out the window to see the […]
The 200 computers have now been picked up by the shipping company and are on their way to Namibia! DHL are sponsoring the shipment, big thanks to you ♥. Hopefully the computers will arrive before we do, and hopefully the customs procedure will go smoothly. Only laptops this year –> much smaller freight! See you!
